Try
Choose filter type, Resistance, and Capacitance for the scenario, then press Check. Each scenario is scored once; Reset restores unsubmitted choices. Play Again starts a new run.
Observe
The live cutoff and response curve update as you change R, C, or filter type. Compare the cutoff error with the displayed tolerance.
Explain
For ideal unloaded RC filters, fc = 1/(2 pi RC). Low-pass attenuates higher frequencies; high-pass attenuates lower frequencies. Both have magnitude 0.707 (about -3 dB) at fc.
Technical boundaries. The response uses an ideal first-order RC transfer function with nominal resistance and capacitance. Points measure filter direction and nominal cutoff matching, not real-world suitability. Scoring: type 8; cutoff 12 within tolerance, 8 within 1.5 times tolerance, 4 within 2.5 times tolerance; component range 4; fit 6 for correct type within tolerance, 3 within twice tolerance. Optimal means correct type and cutoff within tolerance. The displayed tolerance is a game target allowance. It excludes component tolerance, source or load impedance, parasitics, op-amp limits, ADC sampling kickback, temperature drift, nonlinear sensors, or higher-order filters.
